PROFESSIONAL JUDGING

I've written about wine and spirits for a host of publications including: Decanter (London), Fine Wine & Liquor (China), The Hollywood Reporter, Wine Enthusiast, Draft, Wine & Spirits, The Tasting Panel and others. I've been invited to professionally judge at competitions like the Best of Vinho Verde Awards, Portugal; The Taste of Rum Festival, Puerto Rico; The San Francisco International Wine Competition, The San Diego International Wine Competition, Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting, The California State Fair and many others.

A NOTE about RATINGS

We use the traditional 100-point system but with the belief that a score reflects the PRICE commensurate with that beverage’s QUALITY. A $100 wine might be quite good, and well-made, etc., but is it worth $100? Or a wine might cost $8.99 and still not be worth its price, because the quality is lacking.
