Tequila, Horseshoes, & Maserati’s

Having tried many spirits over the years I have never actually tasted the Herradura
line of tequilas. I recently tasted the Herradura (meaning horseshoe) at a high-end
fancy-pants wine event standing next to a Maserati. It would be easy to assume
that standing beside such a car would make anything taste better. But the truth
of the matter is that the reposado stands on its own. Aged for 11 months,
longer than most reposados, it’s been made only since 1974 though the
Hacienda in Jalisco has been producing tequila since 1870. They make
the requisite silver, and anjeo, but it was the reposado that really intrigued me
with its smooth caramel and resin flavors, sweet oak and a stealth citrus back note.
Clean and viscous, there's a slight burn and a beautiful butterscotch aroma
to it as you drink it. Many tequilas are just simply distilled this however is more
balanced than most reposados you will have. Worth the investment
(the tequila, not the car), add this to our liquor cabinet and though
you may not have a million bucks,
the Herradura Reposado will make you feel like a million bucks.
